I had overwritten XP on my older Dell laptop with a full install of Linux Ubuntu/Mint occupying the entire hard drive. There are many options to fix your problem.
You can Create Gparted live CD or usb disk in Linux, or use gparted in Linux there are many how to's with a search. I was able to install 8.1 on a Linux Distro partition disk with custom partition If custom partitioning using the windows setup disk fails with the removal of the Linux grub from the boot CD custom partition options, use Gparted live to remove the partition.
So can someone tell me what do I need to do in order to get Windows 10 on my hard drive?

I was also without success when trying to find an article how to create a additional partition with the needed format out of linux - in order to just install windows alongside linux. I don't see how I am (or anyone else is) supposed to reformat the partition the main system is on. But Win 10 doesn't like the format of my partition and doesn't want to start the installation. This should normally be something even a moron chick like me can manage. Now I want to start from the beginning, with installing windows as the only OS on my drive. Now I have Linux as the only system on my comuter and an allocated partition of 30 GB somewhere on my drive with no access to it. When I was installing Linux I made a mistake. I had upgraded Windows (btw the WiFi didn't work). So I decided to upgrade my Windows to Win 10, and install Linux alongside Winġ0 in order to have something if/when Win 10 fails. I didn't like the system very much, I was was interested in Windows 10, and I was already quite comfortable with linux. The full story: My new computer came with windows 8 on it.
